Slot: category_normalized¶
category folded onto the answer set for the distribution this entry belongs to. Derived, not extracted: pondie.normalization.sex_distribution and pondie.normalization.handedness_distribution set it, and category keeps the study's own wording.
The answer set depends on the slot, which is why the range is open here rather than an enum: sex folds to MALE/FEMALE/OTHER/UNKNOWN, handedness to RIGHT/LEFT/AMBIDEXTROUS/OTHER/UNKNOWN. A distribution with no normalizer -- gender, race, ethnicity -- leaves this unset rather than guessing.
Unset is not UNKNOWN. UNKNOWN says a normalizer read the wording and could not place it, which is a wording worth a rule; unset says none ran.
