  randomized:
    text: randomized

  non_randomized:
    text: non_randomized
    description: 'Participants were assigned to arms by some deliberate non-random
      procedure, such as clinician choice or self-selection. Something was still administered;
      only the procedure that decided who got it was not random.

      A characteristic participants already had is not an assignment. Splitting a
      sample by diagnosis, exposure or genotype allocates nobody, and the study takes
      `not_applicable` here and `observational_cohorts` for its `assignment_structure`.'
  single_arm:
    text: single_arm
    description: Every participant received the same thing, so there was nothing to
      allocate. An open-label pre-post drug study is single-arm.
  not_applicable:
    text: not_applicable
    description: Nothing was administered, so allocation does not apply. An observational
      cross-sectional study takes this value.
